Bee at Highbury Park 10-4pm 24th May – activities include basket weaving and bee keeping!

In celebration of the sun, trees, my local park and the bees which make our lives flourish Alexandra Lockett has made an installation of beehives in the woods in Highbury Park, Birmingham.  The work will be there until the beginning of June (and one hive may become a permanant artwork).

In collaboration with Highbury Orchard Community and Friends of Highbury Park we have put together a day of activities on Saturday 24th May between 12 and 4pm (see poster attached).  You can come and see the installation, learn how to basket weave, talk to Birmingham beekeepers and watch a ‘hive inspection’ at Highbury Park apiary, write some words to add to a ‘bee story’ Birmingham poet laureate Joanna Skelt is creating throughout the day or help make a ‘bug house’ for Highbury Park’s creatures.
